The Five Pillars are: The word Salah means "to pray", that is to recite certain verses of the Qur'an in a set order. Each act of the prayer has its own name. All prayers must be done at a designated time and location even if it is during the day or night. The Dawn prayer, one's first prayer of the day, is due to an early rising sun which reveals the Qur'an on the horizon. Salah is performed by standing, facing east or east of Mecca, and performing certain movements that follow a set order of actions such as bowing, prostration (sajdah), and prostrating on the ground (qabib). A Muslim must perform two basic basic actions in Salah: Standing and bowing. Each person has a specific ritual for bowing and each performs an action slightly differently with different accents within a prayer. Also, Muslims must face Mecca when they pray. Prayer in Islam is very important. Muslims are required to pray five times a day: just after dawn, at noon, midafternoon, after sunset and at night before going to bed. Each prayer must be performed facing the Kaaba in Mecca and with the worshipper's "qaaf" on his/her heart or chest area. There is some flexibility and leniency on the times of prayer for various reasons such as traveling. cfa1e77820
